I am a Christian mother of two who has a history in corporate USA. Long story short, after 19 years I decided it was time for a career change. My amazingly supportive husband encouraged me in this journey, and I am now a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach. I am very proud of this achievement.
Health Coaching has become my passion. I want everyone to live a confident, fulfilling, happy life, void of self contempt. Many of us end up just going through the motions of life and know that there are things we “should” change, but don’t; or try but fail to sustain the change.
My own health journey has not been a short one. If I go back to being a kid of the 80’s, I grew up on processed food, as most of us of that age did. (Schwan’s anyone?) The only vegetables I ate were canned corn and canned green beans. I couldn’t eat a carrot if I tried. I literally, uncontrollably gagged on carrots until I was in my late 20’s. Fruits were bananas and red delicious apples which I wouldn’t eat because they are not delicious.
In high school, I would gain 10lbs each year. I thought that was just a normal part of growing, however, I was never comfortable with how I looked. I hated wearing a swimsuit. I would wear baggy clothes so that no one could “see” me. I didn’t think I cared, but looking back I know I cared. I was worried everyone was judging me both physically and for everything else under the sun. Anxiety should have been my middle name.
My freshman year of college had me at my highest weight ever, even more than either of my pregnancies. I was overweight and hated the way I looked. My active lifestyle of playing sports and going running did not hinder the weight gain. I had no idea that food and nutrition played such an important role in weight management, body composition, and mental health.
Eating healthy, nutrient dense, whole foods is something I’ve done for years now. My diet has drastically changed in an extremely long gradual process. I almost never eat any processed foods now. They are a huge “treat” for my kids when they get them. I don’t eat many grains, but my kids and husband still enjoy them. I don’t believe in taking anything off the table. All foods can have a place.
My health journey is a continual work in process. Changes don’t happen overnight. And as our society gains more knowledge, I am excited to research and implement updates as needed.
I would like to help you in your health journey. I have gained so much knowledge and can help you in making long term, life sustaining changes. I want to see you happy, confident, and successful!
